ImageLaura Max-Program Director-Laura has been serving as the Program Director of Good Shepherd since 1998. Ms. Max is responsible for managing the early childhood education services and special services and ensuring smooth coordination of all direct care services provided. She works in a team management approach with the Executive Director to ensure all services are developmentally appropriate, safe, and meeting licensing and accreditation standards.

  Prior to working at Good Shepherd, Ms. Max worked for Childhaven for eight years, in a variety of capacities from therapist, to program manager and Behavioral Service Director. Laura has expertise in many areas including: speech therapy, behavior management, parent training, and early intervention strategies. Ms. Max knew about Good Shepherd as a speech therapy student. Good Shepherd is where she did part of her clinical training. Ms. Max has her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communications Disorders from St. Louis University.


ImageDonna Brothers-Donna began her employment at Good Shepherd in September 2005 as the Early Childhood Education Coordinator. She is responsible for the school's early childhood education services and collaborates with the Program Director and Executive Director to ensure Good Shepherd provides a program that is developmentally appropriate, safe and meets all NAEYC accreditation and state licensing standards. Prior to coming to Good Shepherd, Donna was District Manager of LaPetite Academy and also held the position of Center Director and Teacher during her 25 years with LaPetite. Donna has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and 30 graduate hours in Curriculum Development. She is a true child advocate and has a passion for early childhood education.


ImageMary Lou Trenn-Finance Officer-Mary Lou has been Good Shepherd’s Finance Officer since 1993. As Finance Officer Ms. Trenn manages the schools financial record keeping, finance reports, and payment disbursements. Primary areas of responsibility include managing payroll, Financial statements purchasing, therapy billing, tuition payments, insurance, and tax liability.

Ms. Trenn has an extensive background in accounting and bookkeeping. Prior to being at Good Shepherd Ms. Trenn worked for Anheuser Busch, Treeland Nursery, and Coldwell Banker.

Ms. Trenn holds an Associates degree in Accounting from St. Louis Community College at Meramec.


ImageChristina Portell-Development/Communication Associate-Chris began her employment at Good Shepherd in October 2001 as the Administrative Assistant, promoted to Development Assistant August 2003, and was promoted to Development/Communication Associate in October 2007. She is responsible for the school's fundraisers, website, information technology, photography, and she helps in many other areas. Christina is currently working on a Bachelors degree in E-Business through University of Phoenix on-line. Christina's family are members of the Highway 30 Car Club and they enjoy spending time at car cruises. Christina and her husband, Christopher, have an adopted son, Steven, that they love spending time with.


Administrative Assistants: Laurie Mallon and Theresa Smith are Good Shepherd’s Administrative Assistants or what is known as the “cog” of our wheel. The job they do for the school is invaluable and varied. Ms. Mallon and Ms. Smith manage the school’s reception desk, handle all incoming calls, provide administrative support for all areas in the school, handle classroom daily attendance, and maintain all student records and files.

-In addition to front desk responsibilities, Ms. Smith provides support to the Finance Officer, helping in third party reimbursement and billing of therapy services. Ms. Smith has a long association with Good Shepherd having worked in a variety of capacities at the school since 1986. Her daughter is a graduate of Good Shepherd. Ms. Smith has worked as a teacher assistant, Development Assistant, and Director of Development. She is known as the “historian” of Good Shepherd and provides much insight to all of us regarding our “roots” and suggestions for moving forward.



ImageLaurie Mallon-Receptionist-Laurie has been working at Good Shepherd as our part-time receptionist since September 2005. Laurie works primarly 9-3:30, five days a week, September through June. She is responsible for greeting all Good Shepherd friends and guests, phone management, managing the student files and many other important duties. Prior to working for Good Shepherd, Laurie was a stay at home Mom for five years. Prior to staying at home she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Coin Acceptors. Laurie loves being in a school environment and welcoming families and guests. We all think she has the best job at Good Shepherd!
